Building A Go Kart
The go kart plan does not have to be that complicated it just involves knowledge about drive systems and the center of gravity relative to the performance of the go cart itself.
A good go kart plan will show how to make a go kart strong, safe, and easy-to-use (construct or follow). There are a whole wide variety of go kart plans on the Internet. Some are free, and some can be purchased. Typically the price of the go kart plan is relative to the quality of the actual product.
Basically what is required is that the two sides of the go kart are fabricated then the two sides are joined together by the horizontal members. The frame then it is tacked together; then fully welded after the whole design has been checked for squareness and flatness.
The actual fabrication of the frame is accomplished by simple cutting of tubing that is joined together squarely, so that is easily welded together.
I recommend using a jigsaw fit it with a metal cutting blade. If you have a saws-all it works beautifully when a metal cutting blade is mounted to it. Additionally, a vice is almost a must have for making a go kart.
Basically the bearing holders, which are usually flat plates, are fixed to the framework and tacked in place. The go kart frame is held in the air or spaced into the air with two by fours. The rear axle with wheels mounted to it is then fitted into the frame-bearing holders.
Make sure that you drill smack dab in the center of the paint spot. Drill holes which are identical in size as the engine mount holes. The reason for this is that the engine will maintain position and not cause the chain to come off because of poor tracking.
One thing of note is that you may not want to weld the motor plate so solid that you can never move it. So you may want to skip weld (not fully weld the seams) and make it easy to grind off welds later.
Make sure the go kart engine drive calculations have been performed prior to committing to a drive layout. One of the serious mistakes most go carters make is that they take hold of components and assume they are going to work. This can be a fatal mistake in that the go kart can be set up and incorrectly and will stall the engine, smoke a clutch, and not drive very well at all.
Placement of the steering is based on the 50-50 weight distribution calculations which were performed earlier. A simple way to establish
1000
50-50 weight distribution is through weighing the go kart. Weighing the go cart at this point involves all the components that are part of the go cart system.
The position of the steering wheel is based on personal taste. However the ideal location of the steering wheel is so that the arms are comfortable or can be maintained in that position for relatively long periods of time without exhaustion.
If you are feeling making your own seat is a lot of work you can purchase a seat however, the cost of buying a seat that is comfortable may end up blowing the budget for this go kart. Remember we’re trying to make a go kart out of junk and for less than $200 so buying a lot of extra stuff makes a go kart expensive.
Remember the cable is just a medium of exchange, it is not the primary and engager. What I mean by that is you cannot push a cable, you can only pull on it. So constant tension is required in the cable to make it work properly.
The on-off switch, is typically mounted, in the center of the steering wheel. All that is required is a single wire fed to the ignition module on the go kart engine. When this ignition wire is grounded the go kart engine stops running. The go kart switch grounds itself through the framework into the engine. So all that is required is one wire from the switch to the frame and then another wire to the engine.
Priming the frame is a good idea, because the primer actually bites better than paint. The primer acts as an adhesive for the paint. A simple enamel paint does the job. If you ride your go kart frequently every summer, you will need to paint your go kart every two years. The reason for this is that the pain will chip, especially from rocks.

Fast And Furious Go Karts! How To Buy One Cheap!
by: Larry Johnson
Go karts can make your heart pump like almost nothing else. If you’re hooked on the thrill of go karting and you are dying to purchase a sleek new go kart there are a few tricks you need to learn. With a little patience go karts can be bought for as much as 50% off of the regular retail price. They are incredibly fun, and they’ve become extremely popular these days. You can find go karts at just about every family fun center or amusement park.
Racing go karts or off road gokarts are just plain fun. But you already know how exciting go karts are so let’s get to the nuts and bolts of how to purchase a go kart at rock bottom discount prices.
Finding cheap go karts is a lot easier than you may think, you just have to wait a little longer before you buy. But don’t worry, not too long. It’s really a simple tactic that I call price shopping. Price comparisons are certainly something you have already heard about, but if you do it right you can find some great discounts.
In the olden days you had to call up different stores or actually go visit them to get some price comparisons for racing or off road gokarts. But today we have the internet which makes it a whole lot easier. It still takes a little work and some patience, but the savings can be well worth the wait.
First, go to Google.com and type ‘go karts,’ ‘go kart,’ ‘go kart sale’ or ‘discount go karts’ into the search box. You may also want to try ‘go carts,’ ‘go cart,’ ‘gocarts,’ ‘gocart,’ ‘gokarts’ or ‘gokart’ spelled differently or enter some different gokarting words that may be appropriate. This will yield an unbelievable amount of online dealers. Check out about 10 or 20 of them and make a note of the different models and prices that they offer. Also, you’ll notice on the right side of the Google search web pages there are many sponsored ads. Companies pay a lot of money to advertise there. Many of these sites have great prices and they should be checked out too.
Second, do the same thing Yahoo.com. Find a few go kart sites that offer the types of go karts that you are searching for and make a note of the models and their prices. Once again, look at the sponsored ads on the page and visit some of them too. Keep track of the cheapest prices you can find.
Third, visit Froogle.com. Froogle is an offshoot of Google. It is a giant shopping site where you can find lots of different models. Search for ‘gokart’ and ‘gokarts’ just as you did at Google and Yahoo, making sure to write down the cheap discount prices you find for the go kart models you are most interested in.
Fourth, go to ebay and do another similar search. Look at the different auctions and notice the prices that go karts are actually selling for. This is one of the best ways to determine a selling price. You may have to keep track of a few auctions for a few days, but it will give you a good idea of the value for different types of go karts.
Do you get the idea? All you’re doing is spending a little time locating all of the best prices you can find online. Then you’re keeping track of these prices so that you can compare them. Now here’s the hard part. Wait a week or two and then do it all over again. I know that waiting is hard, but if you try to avoid an impulse buy you can usually find lower prices. After a couple of weeks you will have determined which go kart dealers offer the best prices.
Saving up to 50% on the price of a great go kart is worth waiting a couple of weeks for. Once you’ve done your homework you just might be rewarded with a wonderfully cheap gokart. And once the work is over, it’s fun time.
